How 10 Days Of Clean Eating Can Create A Catalyst For Change

Last year at this time, I was struggling not to fall asleep at work every afternoon. I felt sluggish, and miserable.

I knew I needed to eat better. I knew I needed to drink more water and exercise more regularly.

I had constant brain fog and frequent stomach issues, but I didn’t realize that it had anything to do with my diet. I never made the connection, that those issues may go away with proper nutrition.

I wanted to lose weight, 20-30 pounds, so I decided to give this 10 day clean eating program a try. I thought, I can do anything for 10 days!

You can do anything for 10 days!

If you think 10 days isn’t enough to make a lasting change, think again!

Most people can’t handle the idea of not having something they like, for more than one weekend. Going for a 10 day clean eating program, is easy enough, but also long enough that you get a taste of what being healthy feels like.

It helped me identify what foods were’t serving me well. When I discovered how much better I felt without them, it made it that much easier to continue to choose a healthier option.

Starting is often the hardest part.

The support system made taking my first step, that much easier.

I was added to a Facebook group of inspiring women who consistently shared their progress and struggles with the group. When someone was having a hard day, they lifted one another up, and cheered each other on.

There were daily smoothie recipes, as well as clean eating recipes, encouragement, and education.

The majority of the program was education on clean eating, nutrition, how to make healthy food choices, etc. I loved that there was a focus on making lifestyle changes, such as, exercising everyday, getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night, and not eating after 6 P.M.

Taking the first steps in making a lifestyle change can be difficult. It was for me, but a strong support system helps so much.

The focus is more than weight-loss

I loved that the focus wan’t primarily weight-loss. They instead, focused on showing us how to make lifestyle changes that would help us achieve a healthy weight.

This is where having the proper mindset comes in. You can lose weight in 10 days, but if you use those 10 days to get you started, your weight-loss will continue even after the program.

This is the beauty of using this program as a jump-start for your weight-loss journey.

Achieving a short term goal, builds confidence.

10 days can bring lasting change. It has for me. Eating clean for 10 days proved to me, that yes, I could go without processed foods. I CAN drink enough water everyday, and I can get 7-8 hours of sleep.

Once you do it, you feel so much better, that you don’t want to stop. Not to say that you don’t allow yourself a treat, or that you continue to always eat clean, but you don’t make a habit of eating the foods that aren’t serving you well.

When you go a short period of time focusing on nourishing your body, (That is what food is for) you’ve taken the first steps to making that lifestyle change. You’re giving yourself a chance to change those old mindsets into new ones, you’re getting an idea of what habits you need to start setting for yourself.

A year later and I’m still going strong.

Those first 10 days really did create a catalyst for change in my life. I continue to do this 10 day program each month. It helps me stay on track. It keeps me accountable to other people, and helps me to stay on my health journey

Each time around I get better and also learn something new. I’ve learned to focus more on nourishing my body, rather than restricting myself. I don’t focus on eating less as much as I focus on eating more of the good stuff. More fruits and veggies. More healthy smoothies and salads. More water. More sleep. More moving my body. More sunshine.
